Vermont offers home repair grants for manufactured housing owners

Starting Monday, you can apply for financial help to go toward fixing up your home. Vermont’s Department of Housing and Community Development is reopening its Manufactured Home Improvement and Repair Program for 2025.The initiative, which has already helped hundreds of Vermonters, is making nearly $2 million available for park improvements, home repairs and foundation installations.The Manufactured Home Improvement and Repair Program has funded over 640 projects. The goal of the Department of Housing and Community Development is to keep Vermonters in their homes and create more housing. The department is working with partners to continue the program and secure long-term funding.The program provides financial assistance for qualifying homeowners and mobile home parks, covering essential repairs, foundation installations and emergency grants for severe damage.“Provides some small grants to individuals who live in parks on their home as their primary residence and need some extra assistance in order to make sure that their home is habitables,” said Shaun Gilpin, director of the Housing Division. Many of Vermont’s mobile home parks have gone without public assistance for years, according to the state. “And one of the things that our department knew was an issue, and we’re happy to be able to utilize some of the federal dollars to address was in many of our mobile home parks throughout the state. Haven’t received any public assistance,” Gilpin said. The MHIR not only helps repair homes but also supports communities by ensuring residents can live safely and improve their quality of life.”Helping people living in that type of housing to live safely and to organize and to be sure that they’re having the best quality of life that they can,” Gilpin said. Applications will be accepted until May 15, depending on funding availability and information on eligibility and application materials, can be found on their homepage.
